Hi all, welcome to our horse racing page.   For those of you who took part last year, the idea is pretty much the same - but if your memory is anything like mine, it'll need refreshing so read on. There will be 8 races, each with 8 horses.   We will be selling each horse on a first come, first served basis for £5 each in the weeks building up to race day.    If we don't sell them all before, we will try and sell any remaining on the day.  This will make £40 in the pot for each race, with £30 going to the winning owner and £10 to Willen Hospice.   We managed to sell all the horses last year which was great, so hopefully we'll repeat it this time around. On the day, before each race anybody can bet £1 on any amount of horses which will go into a separate pot to the owners.  This will then get distributed amongst all the winners - so the more people that bet on each race, the more there will be to split with the winners.
There is a list of horses behind the bar.  All you need to do is pick one and hand over £5.  I'm afraid I've used most of the same horse names as last year, mainly because it's really hard to come up with decent names and so there's no harm in using them again.
